We are launching our Scouts At Home: Virtual Meetings on 20th April 2020, delivering fun and activities for Hedgehogs, Beavers, Cubs and Scouts.

Our leaders have been working hard to find ways to keep all of our members engaged and still able to work towards badges and awards, whilst learning Skills For Life. We have developed a programme that will be run online using the Zoom platform, whereby leaders and members can see each other and will feel part of the Scouting family. Each week, we will have an ice-breaker activity/game allowing each member to speak to one another, followed by an activity focused on badge work that can be completed at home during the virtual meeting. We will also give ideas of things that can be done at home that can count towards other badges.

Our programme for each week is displayed at the bottom of this post, along with details of any prep work that can be done in advance of meetings. If you have any queries about this then get in touch!

We will also be launching ‘Badges at Home’, which will allow any member to have evidence uploaded to our system that ticks off various parts of any badge. This system will give details of which badges have not been completed, and the requirements of those badges that are outstanding. By completing different activities at home you will be able to upload evidence, which a leader will check and sign off the badge requirement. Badges gained during this period will be awarded when we can meet face-to-face.

To find out how to join the meetings, along with what else we are doing, parents and carers are asked to join our private facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/186sheffield

As with all things we do, we will be following our safeguarding training to ensure the safety of everyone involved. We encourage all young people and their parents to follow safety advice and support on using the internet. Please find below resources from the Scout Association on this:

If you have any questions, or want more information please get in touch by emailing info@186sheffield.org.uk or through our facebook page/group.
