Donations to 186th Sheffield (Manor) Scout Group help us continue to provide fun, adventure, outdoor camps and opportunities, friendship, and #SkillsForLife

We subsidise our costs for local young people to ensure finance is never a barrier to joining in. The manor and castle area is within the top 10% most deprived areas of UK, with some parts within the top 1%. This means that for some families personal finances are difficult, and we are proud to support approximately 7% of our places free of charge, and more at a reduced rate so that every young person in our area can benefit from the skills and values scouting has to offer.

However, we still have core costs that must be paid including insurance, rent, activities, resources and annual charges to district, county and national headquarters covering insurance, training and safeguarding. With the outbreak of Covid-19 many families are now finding their personal finances harder than ever, as such we are now receiving a considerably reduced income, which could put scouting in our area at risk. We are actively seeking grants and other funding in order to sustain ourselves until things are back to normal for everyone, but this is proving difficult as many charities and not-for-profit organisations are all competing for the same grants and funds.
