About us
Adventure, fun and #SkillsForLife

The 186th Sheffield (Manor) Scout Group has been established since April 2016. We were formed through a partnership approach with the Scout Development Office working with MASKK, Manor Parish and Manor Assembly to create this new group in Sheffield and bring Scouting to the Manor estate once again. We offer fun, challenge and adventure, whilst allowing our members to gain skills for life. We believe in helping our young people fulfil their potential by working in teams, learning by doing and thinking for themselves. We aim to make Scouting available to all and we are passionate about what we do.
Get set for adventure
Through the adventure of Scouting, young people get to try exciting activities in a safe environment and have their first taste of responsibility. We give young people experiences they will never forget. The sort of adventure we offer is the chance to experience something different and the opportunity for young people to discover their potential.
When a Beaver Scout wakes up the morning after a sleepover, or a Cub Scout has just got over their fear of heights by completing their first abseil, that’s adventure.
Weekly Meetings
Each week term time there is an activity planned that will be fun and help your child work towards their badges, this might be inside or involve a short walk from our HQ. When we plan activities that are further away from the HQ we will let you know. From time to time there will also be additional events and activities for your child to get involved in, from days out locally to staying at a campsite.
Weekly meetings enable us to cover the fundamentals of Scouting and for each member to learn the various skills that will leave them set to be well-rounded members of society, through the Scout Association’s initiative #SkillsForLife.
All of our Squirrel, Beaver & Cub weekly sessions are held at St Swithun’s Church, 2 Cary Road, Sheffield S2 1JP.
Our Scout sessions are held at Temple Park Centre, 197 Harborough Avenue, Sheffield, S2 1QT.
Please remember a coat and water bottle each week as we may be outside and very active!
Our Team
All our adventures are made possible by the efforts of our dedicated team of hard-working adult volunteers. Our training scheme and one-to-one support ensure that each of our volunteers gets to make the best use of their skills and talents. Our policies, rules, code of behaviour and advice on child protection and safety are there to ensure our young people stay safe while they enjoy themselves and learn.
Our Team is experienced in a range of different areas and professions, some of whom work with other local organisations already.
We aim to recruit more parent helpers and leaders each year to allow the sections to grow and if you are interested in volunteering please see a leader or the GSL. Becoming involved can include joining a parent rota and helping once a month to prepare a snack or even becoming a weekly leader. We offer flexible volunteering opportunities, so there is something for everyone.
